October’s been a pretty eventful and nice month, which, if you read the previous “yikes” post, you may recognize that we desperately NEEDED to have a nice month for a change.
Rob’s Scottish relations (well, a few – his grandmother and aunt) came for a 3 week visit to the US, we were able to spend some time with them – not as much as we’d like, given work and school schedules, but still had some nice new memories:
Then we headed off to VA Beach for a few wonderful days. Though the start of the trip was crummy, weather-wise, we still enjoyed visits with Aunt Barbara and Uncle Russ, and their funny new pup Greta:, plus we took advantage of the last day of our trip when the weather was 70 degrees and briefly toured Colonial Williamsburg: Though it was tempting, we did not leave the children in the stocks!
Yesterday, Rebecca was the flowergirl in a wedding for a close family friend – she had a great time, I think the highlight was actually her big-girl trip to the day spa for a manicure and her first updo hairstyle with flowers in her hair. She just loved the dress that she wore and she looked and acted so grown up, made us all quite proud:
I guess we still have the fun of Halloween to look forward to this month, so Oct isn’t even finished for us yet. Last year was Matt’s final year to trick or treat, so it’s just Becca alone that will dress up – she’s decided to be Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz….pics forthcoming. Then the holidays will be here sooner than we are ready for them, I’m certain. I will say, as long as this nice warm weather holds out and it doesn’t feel like fall, I’ll be perfectly content!
